There are a few simple ways that you can do to not only fix your computer errors but even improve speed and performance. After this article you won't have to ask yourself how to fix a computer.

Get rid of all infections. What do I mean by infections? Software such as viruses, spyware, and malware are infections which can and will hinder your computer's performance. You can use free programs such as AVG Free, Adaware, Spybot, etc. to help get rid of these infections. Be sure to not try to use only one program. Because where one program can't detect an infection another one can.

Clean out the clog. One very useful tool for cleaning out old temporary files and other junk which you don't need to have on your hard drive is Ccleaner. This tool is very useful for cleaning out junk which will give your more free space on your hard drive.

Defragmentation. You must defragment your hard drive at least once or twice a month depending on how often you use your computer. Fragments develop as you use your computer which causes your computer to take longer to find those files upon loading. Thus gives you slower loading times. Think of your hard drive as a filing cabinet. As you use files and don't put them back in the order they were in. It will take you longer to find them in the future. This is what is going on when your computer develops more fragments.

Always scan your registry. There are registry cleaning programs available which can repair errors and get rid of old and unused data entries within it. Be careful as there are a lot of them which can delete the wrong entries by mistake. Can even delete data that belongs to your operating system.

You are asking this question because you know that you have a high-speed internet connection and there was no power interruption, yet a single web page takes minutes to load. Believe me, this is a very typical concern of every Internet Explorer user. Let us first know why Internet Explorer runs slow. The most common reason of having a slow Internet Explorer is because cookies and browsing history has never been deleted. Having an unmaintained computer could also cause your Internet Explorer to slow down. Provided that you are using the older version, you must first update your explorer. Windows have now released a new version of the browser that is much faster than the previous version. You can download the latest version on the official website of explorer. Once you are able to download the new IE, properly remove the version that is installed in your computer, and then, install the new version. When it is successfully installed, don't change any setting yet. Familiarize yourself with the old and new features added.

If you currently have the latest version, you may need to delete cookies and browsing history. Cookies are small information that is stored in your hard drive every time you visit a website, while the browsing history is where the address of each website you have visited is being recorded. It is very important to regularly remove cookies and clear browsing history to keep Internet Explorer running smoothly. In order to do these you have to open your Internet Explorer and go to Tools in the menu bar. Then, select Internet Options. After that, click on the Delete button in the Browsing History section. The Delete Browsing History box will now appear. Now, click on Delete All and wait until the process is completed. Finally, click Close, and then click OK.

If these two solutions still don't answer your question, why is my Internet Explorer so slow? The next step is to check if your computer is infected of any malicious Trojans, virus, spyware or adware, or if the computer registry is damaged.

I'm pretty sure that you have an anti-virus software installed in your PC. So, now is the time to fully utilize it. Do a full computer scan (make sure that all your hard drives will be scanned), and see if your computer is infected of anything. It would be much better if your scanner has the ability to detect spyware and adware too, as these two can cause damage to the system of your computer making IE slow down too. Spyware and adware, the same as virus and Trojans can be acquired by frequently visiting malicious websites. As for the computer registry, you may need to install a registry fixer and cleaner to do the repairs.

Just remember that if you come to the point wherein you would need third-party software to optimize the speed of your Internet Explorer, check if that software is truly effective and doesn't have malicious files in it.
